Are you a LASIK Candidate?
LASIK Surgery is a procedure that has helped over 17 million people decrease their need for glasses and contacts. However, it is not appropriate for everyone. Many different factors are evaluated by Dr. Pham at the Orange County LASIK Institute and Eye Care Center. If you are not a candidate for LASIK surgery, it is very important that your LASIK surgeon explain the alternatives to LASIK and your options. The most important step in determining if you are a LASIK surgery candidate is to schedule a free consultation with the Orange County LASIK Institute. Here are some questions to ask yourself to get you started.
Are you over 18?
LASIK has been approved for people over 18 years of age and with a stable prescription. For younger patients, it is especially important that your prescription has not changed more than 0.75 to 1.00 diopter every year.
Are you farsighted, nearsighted, or have astigmatism?
With our advanced technology, we are now able to treat greater ranges of farsightedness, nearsightedness, and astigmatism. The official FDA guidelines for custom LASIK surgery with the VISX laser are up to - 11.0 diopters of myopia, + 3.75 diopters of hyperopia and up to 5.00 diopters of astigmatism. However, many other factors besides your prescription determine if you are a candidate.
Are you currently NOT pregnant or nursing?
If you are not pregnant or nursing, you will be able to have your Orange County LASIK surgery. If you are currently pregnant or nursing, we recommend that you have your procedure after your pregnancy and lactation period end. You will then be able to have LASIK with us at the Orange County LASIK Institute and Eye Care Center.
Are you concerned about the safety and effectiveness of the LASIK Surgery procedure?
If yes, great! The safety of your eyes is the single most important factor in everything we do. That is why we offer bladefree and custom LASIK. The technology we use is the same technology used for pilots and NASA astronauts!
Do you have a desire to see without glasses or contacts?
It is our goal to do everything in our power to give you great LASIK results. A motivation to decrease your need for glasses is important in considering laser vision correction.
If you answered yes to these questions, then LASIK surgery may be an option for you. There is nothing more crucial to your success with LASIK than the determination if you are a good LASIK candidate. No website can provide all the information about whether you are a good LASIK candidate.
The best way to determine if you are a LASIK candidate is to schedule a free consultation with Dr. Pham and his team and the Orange County LASIK Institute. At this examination, we will do the necessary testing to see if you are a good candidate for LASIK surgery. We look forward to meeting you and answering your questions soon!
